Hey All,
I think I've off handedly asked about this problem in a previous post; however, the post was actually dedicated to another problem - That's been fixed.
Unfortunately, though, it seems when ever I fix one problem, a new one develops. For some reason, and I'm not sure why, nor what may cause it, the truck seems to make a very distinct, and weird groan. I'll have my foot steady on the accelerator and for no reason, a groaning sounds seems to appear. It doesn't change pitch - or anything of the sort. I seem to be able to make it disappear by releasing my foot from the pedal, and then quickly applying it again. It seems to be making it's appearance more frequently - so much so that during a 20 minute drive to work this sound may appear up to 3 times.
I really have NO clue what this sound is, but I'm starting to get a little worried. The only thing to note having had done recently was my brake pads were changed, and I had new radius arm bushiings installed. Oh - And some type of washer was replaced. It's supposed to have a notch on it - and it's between two large nuts or something. Either way - The notch was worn and it was causing the two bolts to come loose. Sorry - I don't remember the technical terms the mechanic used. Either way - seemed to fix up some play in the tire.
So... this has become a lot longer of a post than I meant it to. Really - If anyone has ANY suggestions about this sound, or things I can check and test - please feel free to let me know. Nothing is more embarrasing than your truck making some wierd noise you can't explain. Now if only I could figure out the mechanical rattle I'm hearing when ever I hit pot holes or bumps in the road....
