I can't tell if it's coming from the wheels or under the hood. It sounds kinda like a belt squeak, but it's not.
I've noticed today that it seems to happen between 40 and 50 mph and then sometimes around 70. If I let up off the gas, it gets less noisy, but doesn't go away.
Any clues?

I just got this a month ago, it is a 96 EB with 152,000 miles.

I have about the same problem with my 97 EB, but mine only did it under hard acceleration. I noticed that if I remove my front drive shaft then the problem goes away. So I'm convinced that it has to be in the front axel somewhere. I'm going to start tearing apart everything soon and try to isolate the problem. If I find anything I'll post back.

Check the fluid levels in your differentials and transfer case.

could also be wheelbearings... mine sounded kinda like a faint belt or brake squeal when they started to go

could it be an idler pulley?
