weird starting problem

I searched other starting problem threads and didnt see anything similiar so heres my problem. I have a 2001 explorer sport trac with the 4.0 and 82,000miles. Just the other day I go out to start my truck after its been sitting for about 4hrs and turn the key all the dash lights come on and theres a continious clicking coming from the dash as you have the key turned to start, you cant hear the starter engage at all. This will happen a couple of times then you turn the key again and the starter engages and starts right up. It doesnt do it all the time but like today, started right up went to work, started right up after work went to the store then doesnt turn over at the store but all dash lights come on, turn the key a couple of times then starter finally engages and it starts right up. Any ideas?

Sounds like you have a battery that has a Cell going bad. Take the battery to Auto zone or Napa and have them put load test on it.

Bad Connections at the battery cables or grounds at the block

Yeah most likely the battery. I used to drive heavy equipment and when the batteries were dead they would just click.
