I was doing an oil change this morning and noticed some wetness on the PTU where the axle connects into it. What could this be and should I be worried?

Welcome to the forum!

I'd imagine the PTU seal is leaking and it's losing PTU fluid, but if just damp and not visibly dripping off, it might not need fixed right away. Have you ever replaced the PTU fluid? Many consider that a needed maintenance item, about every 30K mi, or sooner in a severe duty use.

I don't know about that PTU, but some people claim that one with cooked fluid can start leaking out the vent. If you drive it for long enough to heat up, then shut it off and check soon after, can you detect a propane-like smell? Some people report that cooked PTU fluid smells like that.

That's the output shaft going into the transmission, not the PTU. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it starts dripping fluid on the ground.
