Those alts use an under drive pulley to "boost up" a smaller alt to 200 watts. Basically it's always running in Over drive, and it will wear out sooner. You get what you pay for, in the long run. And although Mr. Alternator wasn't cheap, no good high out put alt is going to be. Mr. Alternator is still my suggestion (i got mine powder coated red).

thank you. yeah i noticed the "underdrive pulley already installed" phrase hense me going on here and asking for a double-check. yes this is NOT what i am looking for

thanks again
i suppose mr.alternator it is.

i just purchased the 200AMP alt from mralternator.com and got it powder coated blue!

i will update the thread after installation.

is there anything anyone would liek to request i do during the process for your benefit?

i have a problem whith my 2000 5.0 mountianeer i have put in a new battery and a new alternator and the stupid thing still will not charge right does the ecm have anything to do with this

start a thread bud.
name it something specific about your problem and you'll get plenty repsonses

so far people are following my story and are subscribed tot hat

make ur own thread since your prob is related but not the same as mine. youll get much more productive responses

o and give it some time your posts were within like 6 minutes of each other

just a few suggestsions

o yeah..and your in the wrong forum

check out the 95+ forums

nope the charge goes straight from. The Alt to the battery. If your having problems I'd check the Alt to battery wire.

When will the Alt be in dora?

ordered last night..pretty late tho so im counting today as day one. and they said allow 2-6 business days. today im gunna rip out the alt. and start measuring for new power wires

progress for subscribers- pulled alt. and cold air intake to make room for installation. AND cleaning! finally able to get new spark plugs and my fresh 8m wires on the pass. side! and still waiting on my alt from mralt.com

tty soon

The only negative I have about Mr Alternator is very slow delivery.

i understand you had a backordered alt tho correcT? how long did it take and is that because it was backordered? :-/

They never said anything about backordered.

The delay ( and it was about 2 1/2 weeks ) was most likely due to the red powdercoating.

wow i hope im not stuck waiting that long.. dannnng.. well anyway today i steam cleaned as much stuff as i could get to and got the new plugs and wires on! a lil dissapointed about how little of the wires y ou can see. just for the bling factor, but as long as i get the performance thats what matters. so i suppose everythigns all ready for the new wires. a local parts store just told me they can make custom wires any gauge any length with ring terminals all soldered up for pretty cheap! so thats what im gunna do

annnnny lukc someones got measurements for all the pos/neg wires for the charging system? the main ones that is like the alt/batt/grounds?!

pleeease lol

-till next time

FYI, the DB Electronics alternators are available with your choice of pulley at no charge. I bought my first 170 amp model from them. For my nicer truck this time I got the black powder coated version. They evidently can/will charge the same amount for either the 170 or 200 amp internals. I was adamant about getting one with black powder coat, and the guy I talked with this time wasn't very smart. After asking my questions and telling him that I was a previous customer, he insisted that I pay the higher price for a non listed part(not on eBay). I wanted the cheaper price that shows $200 for the OHV(200amp), plus $29 for powder coating.

I ended up getting mad at him and asking for the boss. It turns out that he was the brother of, and at least the brother respected my being a past customer. He gave me the $229 price(w/overdrive pulley), they had it in stock or buildable the same day. I received it two days later. They are very good, but like any business there are odd balls working there. Regards,
