Hello-

I have a problem that seems to be getting worse.

I am leaking some type of pink fluid around my right front tire.

It has been leaking pretty bad the past couple of days.

Here is a link where you can view a picture of it.

Does anyone know what this is and where I can check to find where it is leaking. I think it might be power steering fluid.

What should I do?

thanks!

ok are u sure that this liquid is pink ...cause if it is it`s transmission for sure..probably a seal..have it check.

I posted a couple more pics...

I thought it could be power steering fluid because the other day the fluid that it was leaking was darker in color (more brown) then after i put in about a half a bottle more of power steering fluid it is now leaking a more pink color.

Do you think this could be a seal that I could fix?

Should I bring it somewhere immediately?

Thanks!

If that is PS fluid, then your steering rack is bad and you have to get a new one.

check your PS level ...if it`s accurate where it should be. if it`s low well it`s good indication that you have a prob with your steering rack..it it`s low check it very often and make sure it `s always full until you get it fixed.

I dont know how the power steering fluid would get to that side of the X.
I would sooner think brake fluid.
Anyway you should take it to someone to check it out. It may be a repair you can do yourself but it would be best to have a pro check it out.

yeak Bill I think your right ..I didn`t think of that..

That's definitely ATF, which is used in the power steering on your model. It must be coming out of the right seal on the PS rack. I don't think they're serviceable; you'll have to replace the rack.

There are additives you can pour in, that may slow the leak down untill you can repair it. That looks like a pretty serious leak, though.....

I say ATF as well. Whether from the steering or...

Somehow from the cooling lines for the transmission of they extend behind the radiator and up. You can see the style of lines I am speaking of in "Leak 2". Not sure if those are tranny lines, but that is what they look like.

Can you take a shot from under and above the area with the hood up and good lighting?

Where that inner boot hook onto the rack, there is a straw lookin tube that sticks into the boot. Theres a line that comes down parrallel to the rack and lubes inside the boot. Make sure that that straw lookin tube is still pushed inside the rubber boot fitting. Its very easy for those things to come off and hopefully thats what wrong here.. cause those racks are a PAIN to get out! :D

After looking at your pics.. I'd have to maybe scratch everything i said before! :D Looks like its coming from the half shaft!

I dont know.. check it anyway!

Double check your transmission fluid level, since that's definitley ATF. The cooler lines for the transmission attach on the drivers side of the radiator, that could be the cause of the leak also.

Try to degrease that section of the engine compartment, especially around all transmission and power steering lines. that will help find the leak, and watch those fluids carefully!
