Well im decently happy with the setup i have now if that makes any sense but i need more. I have 1 15 and Audiobahn AW1500X and a one cannel Audiobahn amp A1801Q. I am definetly pleased with the amount of bass the sub and amp produce but i want more. I am thinking of getting another of the same subwoofer and upgrading to a larger amp. My problem is Im not sure what amp to get. If I get a one channel amp then I will have to run the subs at 1 or 4 ohms since they are 4 ohm DVC, but if i get a 2 channel amp I can run them at 2 ohm. I have been looking at the Rockford Fosgate 750s, Audiobahn A2200HCQ and other amps in that range, or would I be better off to go with two 1 channel amps like the one I have now? Im thinking of spending around 400 on the amp but I would like to push at least 500 whats per channel. What do you guys think? Thanks a lot.

Autotek has an amp that use in another car 750.1 Class D, should meet your budget just shop around. It's stable to 1 ohm

i'm happy with my fosgate and i know others are as well. they make good products-you might also want to check out the new Alpine V-drive series. just my opinion good luck. i don't have any experience w/audiobahn so i can't compare that w/a fosgate or alpine!

get either the Audiobahn 2150HCQ or 2200HCQ and run both subs @ 1 ohm mono.

what i meant it bridged @ 1 ohm mono. wire each sub's coils in parallel to make each a 2 ohm load. then wire the subs in parallel to create a 1 ohm mono load.

go with what leejen said, those are two extremely nice amps that put out a serious amount of power and are very clean sounding, plus they match the design of the q series Audiobahns.

im new at wiring so could you please explain how that would be wired. right now with my one sub i have it wired to the positive from the amp goes to the positive of one voice coil and the negative goes to the negative, then i have the pos from the first voice coil going to the negative of the second voice coil and the negative of the first voice coil to the positive of the second voice coil, correct me if im srong but this would give me a 4 ohm load but with DVC it would be 2 ohms correct? But how would I wire each coil to 2 ohms???

you have it wired in series which is an 8 ohm load. you cant get a 4 ohm load from that sub. it has two 4 ohm coils. you are only feeding the subwoofer about 200 watts:eek: .
wire it in parallel (amp + goes to the + on both coils; amp - goes to - on both coils). then the sub will be wired @ 2 ohms mono. your amp is rated at 560 watts @ 2 ohms mono. i'm sure it will sound a lot better and play a lot louder.

i just went to change the wiring of the sub and found that it was wired the way you said i only thought that it was wired the other way. if i had 2 subs and a 2 channel amp and wired both subs that way to each channel i would still only get 2 ohms correct?? how would i get it down to 1 ohm?

dont wire each sub to a channel. bridge the amp so the subs are wired mono. the + of one channel to the + of the subs. then the - of the other channel to the - of the subs. look at the amp to see which polarity is correct.

the 2150HCQ would be perfect for your subs. it's rated @ 1200 X 1 @ 1 ohm mono. but it has an unregulated power supply and is rated at 12.5 volts. the explorer's electrical system runs between 14 and 15 volts. in your explorer, that amp will put out a lot more power then it is rated at. i also suggest that you get a decent capacitor. they are pretty cheap on ebay. capacitors work great with amps that have an unregulated power supply (they work good for all amps, but unregulated amps see the biggest improvements).

Would it be easier to go with a one channel amp that put out the same amount of power but still in the same series such as the A1300HCQ? it puts out 1200x1 @ 1 ohm mono, plus its a little cheaper? would this amp would as good? thanks for all your help

if you can get it cheaper then go for it. i thought the 2150HCQ was a little cheaper than the 1300HCQ. but yes, either will work great.
