Ok ok ok so i'm a newbie and I'm used to 5.0l instead of my 4.0l, and now i have a new toy called 4wheel drive. now on a Mustang there are about a hundred little tricks under $100 bucks to make your pony faster. Now what about my stock 1993 Eddie Baur? How many upgrades under $100 are there? Thanks for the help.

Welcome!!! A kkm conical air filter is probably your best for under $100. Also you can do the throttle cable mod for free, just do a search here for it and you will see what i mean.

Hey thanks. I'll check it out. this is kind of new territory for me. I like it!!

Synthetic lubricants.

It's actually about $170, but one of the best ways to make it breathe better is a Flowmaster cat back exhaust. Makes a significant difference. That along with the air filter will give you a definite hp improvement. A new set of shocks will help the handling. You can get a set of Gabriel VST shocks from Pep Boys for $80. There is also a thread here somewhere about tuning your TPS position to help with acceleration.

I came from the same boat as you, Ive had 3 mustangs and there were mods left and right .. But now it seems as though we have to be a little more creative in finding and making mods. But to answer your qustion for under 100$ You can get the KKM intake, Save up a little and get the Apten chip, Some tint, Suspension mods little by little, or get some plugs wires and oil to ensure a healthy X. Either way you will end up at a dead end MUCh faster than with the stang..... So Mod slowly and you should save money and stay content with the small changes!

YEAH I WAS THINKING ABOUT MESSING WITH THE EXHAUST. I WAS GOING TO DO SOMETHING LIKE THAT AND I HAD THOUGHT ABOUT TEARING THE UPPER HALF OFF AND PORT MATCHING AND POLISHING THE HEADS AND INTAKE. THE MOTOR HAS A FEW MILES ON IT AND COULD USE SOME FRESHENING.

Jeff,
I just called Pep Boys in St College & they tell me that they don't carry the VST's. Any other idea's who might carry these in the area ?

I think that if you just get a KNN air filter (if you have the cone) and take off the filter housing, that should be plenty... the KNN is like $50. I noticed a HUGE difference when I took off the air filter housing - just DONT do it w/ a paper filter. People have also turned their air filter housing into swiss cheese to open it up more... do a search for 'air filter housing' or something to see that. Exhaust is the next thing you'll need. Look into V-Force. It is EXACTLY the same as flowmaster for like 1/2 the cost.

So swiss cheesing the air box is a pretty big thing to do. I was kind of wondering why no one uses an electric fan? I know it was a huge cheap power improvment for my 'stang. But has anyone came across any huge drawbacks in a off road situation? Let me know guys!

yea the only one they make for an explorer will not cool good enough

thats the reason i tihnk no one uses them

there is a member here by the name Aldive... but he doesnt offroad ... plus i don think he hotrods hes kind old(if you read this Al:p )

PEACE

do the swiss cheese bit.. it was a VERY NOTICABLE difference for me when I cut up my airbox.

There has to be a way to cool these things down with an electric fan thats not too expensive. I'll work on that for the time being.
