Ive had these BFG 31s for about 8 months now, bought them for $250 mounted on 15x8 AR OutlawIIs. I mainly just wanted the wheels, bc it was a good deal, but the tires had great tread on them so I decided not to buy new tires till they wear out. My question is, what BFG tires are these, rugged trail or long trail? Bc all they say is Trail T/A and I cant find those on the BFG site. These tires have been great so far, havnt had them in deep snow or mud yet but otherwise a good tire. Just kinda curious as to what exactly they are. Hoping some of you guys can help.. Thanks - Jack

From what I can tell, they are actualy "trail t/a" tires. They are old, and discontinued. They aren't the Open, Rugged, or Long trail tires.. they are "Trail T/A".. The only place I still see it listed is for sale adds.. (usually craigslist).

I found a bad review of them back in 2000 (with a pic that matched your tread pattern) so you know its an older design..

If you post the DOT code on the tire we can tell you when they were actually made.

A set of those came stock on my old 99 sport when I bought it used. I frankly didn't care for them off road at all. They were worse than the walmart BFG's now.

The Trail T/A is the discount store version of the ever-popular BFG All-Terrains. Not quite as aggressive, but they were available in LT sizes and people would pay for the name.

I'd definitely suggest an upgrade to BFG AT's when it comes time to replace them. There's a big difference. Almost any quality AT tread will do better, though.

ok. thats what i thought they were. the cheaper off brand all terrain ta. yeah when money permits im upgrading to a 33x10.50 BFG either all terrain t/a ko or m/t. thanks for the responses guys.
