I have had my 1995 Explorer XLT (5 speed manual, 62,000 miles) since early spring '99.
All I do to it is regular maintanance, 3k oilchanges, etc.

For awhile I have wanted to sell it, but now im realizing its a pretty hot ride.

so, the big question, what can I do to increase power/speed, ride, exhaust, blah blah...

I really want to start with a cold air intake, any suggestions? thanks

Boy, you're in for it now. As long as you have money, the mods never end.

You can start out by getting a new air filter, like the K&N drop in, K&N FIPK, or the KKM. Do a search for these and you'll find out tons of information. This will help with performance and mileage.

A new cat-back exhaust system will also help with performance and mileage. There are varying opinions on the types and make. Available choices are: Gibson, Borla, Flowmaster, etc. These are the more popular systems.

These are some basic low cost improvements. If you want more: replace the cat(s) with a hi-flow cat(s), headers, chips, gears, tires, wheels, etc.

Then if you're really in for major mod: a lift kit for off-roading or lowering kit for street scences, etc.

Your options are only limited by your imagination and your wallet.

Have fun with the build up.

I second everything he just said!

My preference is the KKM and flowmaster system. Good quality performance for the average man's wallet:D

1) KKM ($90) http://www.kustomz.com/
2) 2" Torsion twist/shackle (suspension) lift ($55 installed))
3 flowmaster 50 exhaust ($180 installed)
4) bigger tires (varies)
5)custom wheels (varies) But stay away from polished.
5) maybe a black brushguard ($300-$450)

I wouldnt really worry about gears unless you are really loaded or want some huge tires.

Just all depends on how much you have to spend.

Do most of these and you should be happy...
