Well, in my 1994 Ex, it takes Type F fluid, which is a darkish red color. I got the info directly from Ford Technicians. I had to get a second opinion since the guy from Auto Zone told me it didn't take Type F. Hope this helps!

mine is a really dark red..mine was replced about 2k miles ago

mine looks dark green

Mine had a greenish tint to it when it was newer, now it looks brownish (time for a flush)

I keep filling mine up with clear fluid. but it just leaks out again. Ive gotta replace the rear cylinder deal. When I top it off, it leaks out to this certain level everytime, and the brake pedal acts the same everytime. Why does it leak down to that level, then quit?

BRAKE FLUID IS CLEAR!!!!

should not be any other color, some slight browning is normal with age, also dues to clear master cylinders, they may appear to be tinged green.....

type F that is red is tranny fluid!!!! not braker fluid!! and type F is for fords TYPE FORD older ones anyways......

oop's im thinkin of power steering fluid..not sure of the brake fluid..but i will look..mybad

Brake fluid

Yep, Jimabena is right. ALL brake fluid is clear or nearly clear. In use it will darken, often turning a greenish tint, then brown. Red is definitely a color it is NOT supposed to be!

Hmm Dark Green I assuming its coolant... red is for ATF, clean motor oil is gold, then will become "chocolate" when dirty.

BTW If I recall right, I thought that Explorers using DOT 3 Brake Fluids otherwise will damage the brake system.

I never use any additives in any system in my Fords. I hear some additives cause damage to parts. I wouldnt use it.

ya when i take it back i will ask em about it it is definatly not coolant though
