I was quoted about $350 on my 91. Ball joints run about $35 to $50. Ended up doing it myself and renting the ball joint press tool. Takes about 2 hrs. a side (upper and lower) with air tools. Make sure you get new snap rings on the upper ball joint. As I removed mine it broke and then I spent half the day running around trying to get a new snap ring, which I did'nt find. Ended up buying another upper that came with a snap ring. What a pain that was.
I was just quoted $350 including a $50 alignment from Sears auto for both lower ball joints on my '98 SOHC 4x4.
Also, their quote spells out that they use Heavy Duty MOOG ball joints. For all you moog fans.
The great thing is - they offer a lifetime warranty on the job. Pay once and never again. Could be great for people who are less than nice to their explorers!
Now, I'm sure there's fine print and all that good stuff but I was amazed that they'd even offer anything like it for the Explorer.
Now I just have to decide if I'm gonna keep mine.... It's becoming a money sink hole.
