OK, I just took my 02 XLT Explorer off the road and bought an 05 XLT to replace it with. The 05 does not have auto headlights, but my 02 did. What would I have to do to add the auto feature to the 05? I assume (but am not certain) the same sensor comes standard on the dashboards of both, so can I just simply swap the headlamp switches between the two trucks or if it is not the exact part required, just get one off of the Rock Auto site or something and install or is there more to buy? Don't want to waste money, but want the auto headlamp feature.

I hate auto headlamps, why would you want to add them? Unless one is missing their left arm to be able to easily switch the lights on as needed I see no need for them.

02 and 05 have different wiring. on 02 the sun sensor connects to the GEM (general electronics module), while 05 connects to the CSM (security module) you probably have better chances of swapping the module from same model year.
not sure if there's programming involved to enable that feature.

Thanks for your opinion anyway!

Cool, THAT'S the type of info I'm after. I'll keep researching (just started). Thanks!
