I'm wondering how much they cost and how do they know what areas to dynomat? Would I just bring my Explorer in and they'd listen to it with my subs on and could just dynomat the areas needed? I don't want to pay to have my whole car dynomatted or take a whole day out of my time to install this crap myself, so I was wanting a shop to do it. I just don't find the need to obviously dynomat the whole thing if only the hatch and a few other areas might rattle.

Who has had a shop dynomat their vehicle for them and how much did it cost? And how did they do it? Did they just play your stereo up loud to find out the rattling areas that needed the mat?

A good shop will already know from past experinces what to dynamat, i know that they will usually do the doors, beyond that, in my case i have problems with the rear windsheild wiper, and the roof right behind the sunroof is an issue. however, i have not yet got my doors dynamatted as i cant even here them over the wiper in the back or the roof on really looooww notes.

Will probably be pretty expensive because they will have to take the time to remove interior pieces. With the money your going to pay them you could dynomat the "entire" car yourself. But the cheapest way would just be for them to dynomat around the speakers, but if you have a sub then you would want to dynomat unreinforced panels in the car.

Dude,
Spend a day dynamating your own truck. It's a whole day process, but it's worth it. A shop will probably charge you $450 to do the whole truck, and you can get all the dynamat you need delivered to your door (from eBay) for like $200.

It would cost a fortune. The stuff is pretty labour intensive to install, but dead easy to do for the most part. A lot of work is spent removing seats, panels etc before laying it. You're definitely better off doing it yourself. Dynamat is expensive as it is. DIY.

Well hell, guess I'll just see how it is once I have the 15 inch L7 Kicker in the truck and if it's not too bad I'll live with it. If it's horrible (which I doubt it will be considering my boy has 2 12s knockin in his 95 XLT and he seems to get LITTLE to no rattle in his truck without any dynomat) but if I have too I guess I'll just install some myself. Sounds like from everyone else it's mainly the back hatch, back window, back wiper blades, and for some other panels including the roof.

from my experience...it is almost dollar for dollar to install it. As in you buy a $200 box of Dynamat (enough for maybe your rear hatch and quarters) and its gonna be about $200 to install that. I had to double stack my back area, but i was also running 2 W7s on 2000 watts.... so i was rattling out of my mind. I double stacked the back area, single stacked my doors and floor (double in cargo area) and double stacked the roof starting behind the driver seats. I spent about $500 on the dynamat alone. I wouldnt have wanted to pay a shop to do it as it took me and a buddy about 2 days to have it completely apart and back together. It was actuallly a good experience to have everything out of the truck. Got to clean everything, get alot of gunk out of hard to reach areas, and fix any broken/worn wires and parts....plus its not really yours unless you build it ;).
