what do you think bout this box design???

I'm not sure what to tell you there, I haven't been following the latest stuff lately. I run a 1200W kenwood excelon x401M and I have known people who were able to run that at 1 ohm, but i don't know how long that lasted. It sounds like you might want something more higher end anyway. My suggestion would be to go poke around tweeter or a car audio forum and see what other people like for 1 ohm mono amps.

im thinking of just wiring both subs down to 2 ohms and getting this amp

what do you guys think.. if i get this amp wire my subs in parallel will i be getting the maximum power output from my subs??

again.. i have 2 4ohm DVC Subs.

can someone please clarify.. if it says 500x2 on an amp with 1200 watts max does that mean that each sub will get 500 watts each or is the sub only getting half that amount - 250 watts?

that amp is rated in max power- which doesn't mean much. the rms rating is likely 250 by 2 or so from what you said there. hope that helps- send me an email with all the info for what your using/have already and i'll help you out tonight when i have time

if u give that amp everything it needs ie good power good ground u will feed 225@4ohm to each sub

it says right on the link its 450x2 @ 2 ohms RMS. I have heard good stuff about orion in the past but its up to you.

i didn't know it was the same amp as the link. i just heard 500 by 2 and 1200 max so i was going off of that

well if its a 15 its alot more then .1 if its a deep cone its more also if its an ED so its flat then its still probably .1 but i mean if u make a box thats 2.1 u did it for a reason so adding in that extra un accounted from space would throw things off u could always just add in a brace that was about the same area taht the cone is im prety sure u could even things out a bit

i know this question is repetitive but i want to be 100% sure im buying the right amp for my subs.

ok can i get a 400x2 watt amp at 2 ohms to power 2 400 watt subs @ 2 ohms or will i need to get a 800x2 amp @ ohms?

400 by 2 at 2 ohms is what you need.


yes, the "dish" area of my 9500s is actually quite a large number since its very, very large relative to most subs.

Most newer Class D sub amps all have phase switches built in. MTX1501D's come to mind. Just flip the switch on the inverted subs and voila.

that amp is only stable to 2 ohms mono. not a good choice for your setup.
you might want to consider the memphis MC1000D. it;'s a great amp. very small and efficient. 1100watts rms @ 1 ohm mono. we just hooked up an STI with that same amp running two JL 12W6V2-D4's.

here are the specs for the amp.... i believe it says 2 ohm stereo. right?? just making sure.. dont want to make the same mistake twice. My first one was getting a power acoustik amp.. it worked for awhile but it finally gave up..

i dont think im gonna do that anymore. if i did that im scared that the subs will get damaged. aslo i think by using that design i will have no cargo space available. with the winter coming up, i'll need that extra space for my snowboarding trips.
