Press and hold the reset button and turn the ignition to on after about 10 seconds engineering mode will come up and you can release the reset button. After you are in you can start the car and it will stay there. As you press the reset button it will move through different tests and screens. To exit turn the ign off.
I dont know if this works if you have three buttons that control the message center.
From reading other threads on here and a google search they are stored dtc's but not like a engine misfire code or powertrain malfunction code. From what I could find they could be codes that are stored by the computer like battery voltage low. They also can't be deleted unless you have the ford ids system. They could also be dtc's for the instrument cluster itself. Now all of this is from what I have read and I could be wrong. If you have a scanner that can pull codes from all the modules of the car (pcm, bcm, sjb, abs, IC, ect.) scan all of them and see if any codes come up and let us all know.
