94 explorer Eddie. located on the driver's side of the block is a fitting setup, just above the pcv. It has vacuum lines connected to it. Now when then wife tried starting there was a puff of smoke, and when I looked at it one of the hoses was blown off. There is oil present on the fittings so they don't stay secure. It's a small distrbution block(brake vac etc.) When running or trying to air is blowing out knocking the hoses off.

I had a similiar issue on my 94 a few years ago. I my lines kept getting blown off the the vacuum tee. They were very oily. It turned out my vacuum modulator was bad and letting tranny fluid in the line. It also caused my tranny to start acting funny.

Same as Hammerhead. I had a bad vacuum modulator. Those are fun to take out with the heat shield and the cat in the way. Good luck!

from what i read on this forum you have to get at it thru the interior with the seat, carpet out and a hole cut into the floor.
