and drive about 30 miles with the parking brake on? I never use the thing, had to yesterday, and completely forgot to take it off. Did I just screw something up bad?

Thanks.... !!

Take off the rear tires & check your brakes.
Did something happen that told you the P-brake was on, or did you realize it & disengage it?
I've accidentally driven with it on( not in the XLT) for about 50-60 miles & all it did is wear the brakes down slightly( almost not enough to notice) & waste ALOT of fuel.
But it wasnt pushed down all the way either.

Thanks Espresso, nothing at all happened, just realized it was on after I had left home and returned. It just hit me I had put it on. I should have thought of it, I had to get on a freeway and it was dragging some on the on-ramp, but I thought it was the headwind. So all that could have really happened was to wear down the brakes some?
thanks for the help!

I doubt it too. Even though I've had the brake completely overhauled I find it next door to useless anyway. That maybe because Euro Exs have the handbrake lever located in the centre arm-rest - perhaps a floor parking brake is better.

Either way isn't there a separate parking brake - in which case your rear pads won't be affected.

It is amazing how little pressure those parking mini-brakes actually apply isn't it? :)

As stated, it won't affect your normal brakes at all, so it isn't a safety issue with driving. You probably wore down the parking brake pads some, but if you don't usually use them, that may not be an issue either.

Believe me, both my Xs have quite a few miles on them with the parking brake on. :D

I did a dyno run with my ebrake on once! :p Shhhh! :D

Thanks everyone! I feel a lot better. Probably won't use the thing for another 6 months anyway!

thats why i dont use it..lol

the day my grandma drove off the lot with her new LHS we got about 20 miles down the higway before she noticed the light on. she paniced and let the brake off. told me if we bring it in and the parking brake is worn down. to not say a word! lol

Which is one reason why I keep mine properly adjusted. I don't move when its on :)

Man pop the e-brake and look at all the HP and MPG's you pick up !!!!!!!!!!!!

I use mine religiously... Stop. E-brake. Shift to Park...

I release it before I shift out of park... pretty much routine to me... day in and day out... kinda boring if you ask me. Kinda like this post. :p

Whatever happend to those automatic releasing E-brakes when the tranny was put in DRIVE. We had one on a old Crown Vic..
