You have to tell us the axle code on the driver side door jam for us to tell you the gear ratio and if you have a l/s. If you have an automatic tranny it is a A4LD, if it's a manual it's a M5OD. You probably have the Borg Warner 1354 electronic t-case, if not it's the BW1354 manual. You don't have a front l/s. The t-cases are pretty good but not "bullet proof".

axel code..41
I have auto tranny and electric transfer case
no front l/s both wheels should spin then right?
spring code..w u
transmission..T
what is all this telling me???

41 = 3.27 gear ratio (with open rear diff)

Your front is open (all Explorers are stock), so most of the time, both wheels will not spin together. Even with both wheels in the air, one side will have more resistance than the other, and only one wheel will spin.

change the gears or get lockers front and back (arb's)

If you get full carrier lockers installed (ie arbs), you might as well regear at the same time. It really shouldn't add anything to the labor cost of the install, only the cost of the gears.

I'm all pissed off now that I know my rig has cheap base line drivetrain. I thought ooooohhhh...eddie bauer mmmmmm . Must be some good **** in there. Put in a power seat and call it eddie bauer edition ( I see now )...sorrry for the language but I was venting....now I'm going to go vent on my dog

Umm..............well, if it makes you feel any better, a lot of people who were buying new Explorers in 1994 were thinking "woohoo, high gear ratio equals great mileage!!!"

Your gear ratio has nothing to do with the options of your ride.

My axle code is 4D, what gears and diffs do I have? Or where can I find that info?
P.S. Don't worry Mark, I'll come pull you out!!. LOL :)

If you look in the link I posted, it has the codes. Are you sure that it wasn't D4? If it is, you have 3.73 limited slip!

Ya it is D4, sorry man. Thankyou very much BMXKing  . Is that front and rear l/s? By the way cool handle. I used to race BMX on the first BMX track in southern Ontario, Canada, as far as I know. It was in Fenwick Ontario in the summer of '81. Only lasted the one season. Ass.... neighbors couldn't handle the noise. You don't hear of BMX racing anymore, just trick riding and jumping. I never did very good though because I had to try and compete against you experienced U.S. guys. Just couldn't keep up.
Peace
:burnout:

Only rear. As Robb said above
Your front is open (all Explorers are stock)
I've heard there were a few rare D28's in the early to mid '80's that had a Trac lock installed at the factory, but since then, all front ends in RBV's have been open from the factory.
