2003 XLT v8 4.6L
Hey,

I was just in the market of buying a some new parts for the explorer, when i came across the thought of a chip. I did some research but couldnt find much of anything, therefore i come to you guys. Anyways i have a 2003 XLT v8 4.6L and i was wondering what is the good chip that will give me the best power gains, HP, acceleration, etc..

Also how much do they usually go for, because i seen chips on ebay from 10-40 dollars, are those any good?

here take a look at this link, is this worth it and can it do any harm to the computer or anything to the truck?

Thanks in advance!

Dan

You need to get together with BamaChips. They make the chips for our Explorers via SCT. There's links all over the computer/chip section and I'm sure someone will chime in here with a link.

Those are not "chips" that you see on eBay, but to put it simply....JUNK. Run, do not walk from those bogus listings.

SCT makes excellent programming options for Ford (see sctflash.com). "Chip" is a term that doesn't mean as much anymore because you can also deliver custom tunes via a "flasher/programmer" as well.

As mentioned before, bamachips.com is a favourite on this site (including myself, I purchased a XC2 flasher from bama). You will pay more for SCT related products, but you also get what you pay for.

Hey guys, thanks for the fast replys i will look into the links you guys threw up there for me. But that one on ebay, will that even make a difference and can it harm the truck in awayway?

let me know

I appreciate it

thanks

i don't think that is going to hurt your truck, but as everybody said you get what you pay for. my opinion save your money instead of buying the chip that you are talking about.

when you are ready to give some extra money then go with bamachip.

Most of those are gimmicks which use a 50 cent resistor to trick your ecm. First off the 02 Explorer cannot use a chip they have to be flashed with a handheld of some sort. I specifically sell the SCT ExCal 2. SCT uses the most powerful software available and the support is excellent.
