I am trying to determine the correct name for the bushings which mount the differential directly to the frame on the right side and also the one that goes between the about 2 ft long 1/2 inch plate about two inches tall and mounts about underneath the driver's feet. I can't seem to find this anywhere in any diagram on Ford's parts lookup exploded view diagrams. Can anyone help me out? Mine are very badly in need of replacement. Also, how do I replace these....looks like I have to lift the truck off of the axle, getting at those bolts on the differential where the plate mounts on the left side looks like quite a PITA. It is a 2004 Explorer Sport trac. Thanks. Newbie Mark.

Any chance you're referring to the frame body mounts? 2001-05 ST's have an extremely high failure rate with the orange MCU foam mounts used under the "B" and "C" pillar locations.

Thanks for the vey useful information...it is not the body frame mounts I am referring to...although I will definitely be checking these tomorrow. It is the bushings for the front axle mount to frame on the right side, and the bushing for the left side under the arm that goes from the side of the differential to the frame under the driver's seat. pesumably this heavy duty, 1/2 steel casting is to control the torque from the diff. The casting numbers are about 1/2 inch in height, top one is 5323S, middle one is 6T1 D12S, and on the bottom is about 1/4 in numbers is 235. Thanks again.

Missed your header "FRONT differential mount bushings". Being RWD, I don't have a Dana 35 front differential
and racking my brain looking for them under my ST. I don't believe the axle bushings are a common failure with
the Gen 2 judging by the few posts. Looking at the Ford workshop manual, they may also require several special pressing tools for installation. Check bushing part numbers. Good luck, I can finally sleep again. LOL :banghead:

DIFRNTAL CARRIER BUSHING for 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac|1L2Z-3A443-AA

From the "2000 mountaineer" link in my signature

Part number for front differential -axle housing mount bushings

F67Z 3A443 AA ( around 38.00 each from ford)

There is also one in the torque bracket so to do them all you'll need 3. I think the one in the torque bracket does more work and will be the one which causes thunking when it wears.

The complete front differential axle housing torque (mounting) bracket part number is 3L5Z 3K090 AA
This part is $190.00 so I would attempt the bushing first.

Yes these are press in.
For removal, Remove the center tube (easily presses out) and rubber first ( cut out or burn) , then shave off the outer rim piece with with a cutoff tool so you can fit a backer sleeve for pushing the bushing out. A few dimples to the bushing edge with an air hammer makes the pushing edge larger. I used a 1 1/4" socket and a c clamp press to push it out once the guys had it all prepped.

Hi all! Here is what I found out.....the bushing for the 2004 Sport Trac right side axle to frame mount is part# 2L2Z-3K090AA according to the Ford Parts guy I spoke with. I just ordered it for $51.77 (Canuck Bucks) including taxes. The left side torque plate and bushing comes as an assembly and the bushing can't be ordered separately. The part number for this left side item which bolts to the diff and then to the frame a couple of feet rearward is (was) 1L2Z-3AA443AA. It would have cost around $250-$300 (canuck Bucks) however it has been discontinued and is no longer able to be ordered. There is no Ford Dealership in North America that has one in stock.

So I called one of the local autowreckers and they said I could have the torque plate and bushing for around $15 to $25, they would have to see the part first. This will required me to take it off myself...so all I have to do is find an Explorer that already has the engine removed and from there it is a piece of cake.

Thanks everyone who replied....hopefully others will benefit from your useful information.

Here is what I found out talking to my Ford Parts Guy. The right side front axle to frame bushing is appropriately named by Ford as "Bushing". For the 2004 SportTrac (and I am sure many others)it is part# 2L2Z-3K090AA and I just ordered it for $51.77 including taxes (Canuck Bucks).

The left side torque plate that bolts to the differential and mounts to the frame about 2 feet rearward underneath the driver's feet is appropriately named "Plate" and is part# 1L2Z-3A443AA and the parts guy estimated it should cost between $250 and $300 for the assembly...the bushing cannot be ordered seperately. However this part has been discontinued by Ford, there is not one Ford dealership in North America that has stock on this part.

Talking with a few auto wreckers in my area, they estimate it would cost between $15 to $25 if I go take it off myself, but they would have to see the part first. So, if you need a torque plate bushing, go find an Explorer with the engine already removed and getting the torque plate out is a breeze...I will likely be doing this over the weekend.

Thanks again to all who replied to my inquiry. I hope many others will benefit from all of the information relative to this subject matter. Please watch for my next post regarding 5.0L compatibility with Explorer transmissions. Looking forward to all replies.

I've bought the 1L2Z-3A443-AA and the F67Z-3A443-AA, ended up loosing track of which is which. One has an orange mark and the other has a green mark. I was told that one is bigger than the other, but so slightly so that it's hard to tell which is bigger. Any ideas?
