What is the 01M01?

Go back to the dealer, go into the service room, tell the advisor that you dealt with last time you want him to come out and listen to your truck. Leave it running if you have to. Be curtious, but be firm. You need to get what you want and show them you won't be taken, but at the same time you can't let them get anything on you. If they start giving you a hard time, don't lose your cool... thats the worst thing you can do. Explain to him that you just had your truck in for some recalls that were supposed to fix this noise. If they give you any bull about thats just how a 4.0L SOHC sounds tell them that you have heard many that run quiet. If they try to tell you that its a ping or knock, tell them that the SOHC has a knock sensor that automatically retards the timing to get rid of it.

The ONP's require them to go deeper if they problem isnt solved by just replacing the parts. They are supposed to check for bent valves if they still hear noises. The ONP's cover a lot more than they tell you about, thats how they get away without doing it.

How long was your truck in the shop when they did 00M12 and 01M01?

Owner Notification Program.....

So if I did the 00M12 myself is that going to effect my 01M01? I need to contact the dealer about getting mine done.

I dont see why. If you still hear noises then you need 01M01. I wouldnt tell them you did it. Just say that 00M12 has already been done. Don't lie, just don't give them more information than they need. Besides, if you did 00M12 and your truck still starts up and runs, then you must have done it right. :)

Do you hear any rattles under acceleration between 2k and 3k rpms?

Yeah, the problem moved out of just in the startup and am noticing it while driving too. I think if they look under the hood they'll see that it's been done. The original has some blue paint on it, while the replacement didn't. I may just tell them I had another shop do it if they start giving me hell about it. I think I'm going to get it done in July when I'll be out of town for a week and won't need it. Still have until November.

You can tell if 1m01m was done:
1. No noise especially @2800-3000 rpm while increasing speed from a dead stop.

2. Engine mounts bolts should be new, if not the entire bracket as the engine must be removed to release the rear chain sprockets, etc.

3. The engine has to be removed. All of the quick disconnections at the fuel line and the battery cable needs to be spliced.
You can tell. Trust me.

trabs,

Are you sure about that? The engine removed.....

The engine does not need to be removed for 01M01.

In some cases, the rear chains parts do go bad and need to be replaced which does require the removal of the engine. As far as I know, this is not covered by 01M01.

Why does the battery cable need to be spliced? Where do they splice it? I'm curious because I would like to take a look on mine. Thanks.

Proper installation of Chain guide cartridges, etc

Yes, the correct way as listed in Chiltons auto repair and the Ford Service Dept at Hackettes Town Ford, Hackettes Town, NJ. They are the ones who replaced my entire Engine (LongBlock-Upper/Lower/No accessories). They are honest and professional. I had to Drive 45 miles because no local dealers would deal with the problem. They will tell you they have to hear it first. Their number is 908-852-1933 but also call Fords Customer Support to get things rolling.
