Go back to the dealer, go into the service room, tell the advisor that you dealt with last time you want him to come out and listen to your truck. Leave it running if you have to. Be curtious, but be firm. You need to get what you want and show them you won't be taken, but at the same time you can't let them get anything on you. If they start giving you a hard time, don't lose your cool... thats the worst thing you can do. Explain to him that you just had your truck in for some recalls that were supposed to fix this noise. If they give you any bull about thats just how a 4.0L SOHC sounds tell them that you have heard many that run quiet. If they try to tell you that its a ping or knock, tell them that the SOHC has a knock sensor that automatically retards the timing to get rid of it.
The ONP's require them to go deeper if they problem isnt solved by just replacing the parts. They are supposed to check for bent valves if they still hear noises. The ONP's cover a lot more than they tell you about, thats how they get away without doing it.
How long was your truck in the shop when they did 00M12 and 01M01?
