Help!!! I would appreciate any help here! I just recently noticed a couple of days ago how my explorer seems to jump when it shifts the first gear. Each time I stop and begin to go, it jumps a little or pulls around 20-30 mph. Then it rides fine the rest of the way. Help!

Could be a problem with the control trac, or possibly the torque converter....

I don't think it has anything to do with the Explorer. I've never heard of it. Sounds like a ricer speed upgrade. This question should probably go in its own thread though.

it says GFX on the sides its a badge

its something someone probably added on.....

GFX is shorthand version of a Japanes word which, roughly translated, means:
"Thread Highjacker"

:smoke: gotcha

-oh, sorry I`m not sure what that problem is, just havin a little fun with the new guy -cheers

I noticed this also on my '97 but it only happened once but it did freak me out! Is this what they call "tranny slipping"? Can this be corrected before it gets any worse?

Is the tranny really in 1st gear?

On our '92, it wouldn't go into 1st gear when I pulled up to a light. I would start off, the truck would move, at about 15mph it kinda jumped as it went into 1st, then back into 2nd.

If I put the gear shift into 1st manually it would go into 1st... Thats how I figured out what it was (in my case, the governor was sticking)..
