what is the best way to go about trimming to fit 33's?

Very helpful info considering i'll be doing this very soon. Would a dremel be alright for trimming?

i just got done with this project, i took pics and im doing a writeup as we speak on it. check it out when i post it, some good info for others who want to do this i think.

LONO, hopefully it's not too late but don't get the stick on weight that mount on the inside , they won't clear the calipers. Also, I know Cali. is strick but I had to get my wheels/tires balanced four times in two weeks because they used the new "steel" lip weights. The bead protecter on the tires kept kicking them off, they had to find some now outlawed "led" weights and I haven't had any issues since. The steel weights just wouldn't bend to the curve of the wheel and the clip wasn't long enough to grab the lip under the bead protector. Just a heads up.

thanks for the heads up rebel, everything went good at the tire shop and i got them balanced and then i took them home and threw them on myself. im doing a write up on the project as we speak. i should have it up in a few.

With 33's you should have 4.56's with our Trac's to get the speedo corrected and take alot of stress off the drivetrain.

I want to regear my Trac to 4.56's but I'm waiting til I do my SAS, SOA because I don't wanna waste the money on the gears, install, etc. then have to do it over again with the straight axle.

Don't get me wrong, you're fine with 4.10's especially since your 2wd but your speedo will be off as well as your odometer and putting more strain on the drivetrain.

Kinda off subject but with 33s and 4.56s is it recommended to do a tranny cooler?

Yes it is suggested to add a tranny cooler with a stock ST. The transmissions on our trucks are tempermental and could use all the help they can get when you change anything on the them.

X2...

For as cheap as good tranny coolers are its pretty much a no brainer for just about any vehicle.

That's next on my list too.

Anyone else feeling like they're running out of things to upgrade... ;)

is there one specific to the sport trac? Or are they all a "universal" application?

That was a very helpful thread but what brand cooler was that?

I'm trying to find out what he used, I'll keep ya updated when I find out.

Ok cool there's a place near me called mishimoto automotive that specialize in cooling and they have universal tranny coolers. You should check em out, i can get stuff through them dealer to dealer.

I wonder if it's worth the higher price? :dunno:

If keeping the stock one on there, I would think one of the cheaper ones would be sufficient.

So i just got my tires in today and these 33's are alot bigger in person than i thought. After having 33s on has anyone had any problems? Like drivetrain problems, anything? People at work are telling me to watch my cv's.

You'll go through hubs and other stuff like control arm ball joints faster.

yea i'm replacing all that stuff up front anyways.
