What is this box??

I was looking under the L aft interior access panel where the rear wiper fluid jug is, and was wondering what the control box is just forward of the washer fluid jug.

Any ideas? I have a few photos of it.

does it have wires going into it? Do you have 4wd? I think the box you are referring to is the 4wd controll computer, if you have 4wd.

If not, maybe get picture of this box if you have a digital camera, and maybe one of us can help you out.

That controls the 4WD. Somewhere on the bottom there is a little switch that you press and it makes the LED come on in a self test. Very useful at those times when you are extremely bored.

Isn't that the GEM module?

No, the GEM module is in the dash just to the left of the radio. Plus 1st gens don't have GEM modules.

I was thinking it was a brake controlller for towing. Yes it doesa have a LED on the bottom. Again, I do have pics, but can only e-mail them ( not post).
Didn't know there was a controller for the 4WD.
