thats weird...i have never seen that before.

Me neither and the truck is only at around 800 hundred somethin so far. I didn't know if maybe this was a factory differential locker switch or something....

I forgot about those early ARC trucks. That is for the OEM air suspension which is standard on the 95-98 Limited and Eddie Bauer models. It's just for a setting change, the truck should ride higher in the offroad/4x4 position. I don't remember seeing one of those switches either. Regards,

no they dint have lockers from factory...it could be something after market though. ask the e-bayer...he should(i hope he does) know what its for.

Well this is a 98 Limited. thanks for the answer Don

Larger pics from another eBay auction...

EDIT: this is from a 98

That switch is used to control ride height on the air suspension of the Limited. On the off road setting, the shocks will raise the vehicle and the shock valving is switched to firm. Above a certain speed , the shock settings will return to normal since you would not be "off road". I used this setting only a few times when I had my Limited, made the truck ride stiff and bouncy. Not needed in my opinion.

Those are not on the 96 Limited. Mine had the ARC and everything was automatic. It would lower at Highway speeds and raise when put into 4wd and raise higher in 4low. The 97+ I believe didn't have the automatic. Plus being that it is a V8 AWD it cannot see when you are in 4wd for off road and needing to raise the vehicle.

The V8 and AWD is what made that switch rare. It isn't clear which of the 96-98 models had it, but as mentioned, it's really superfluous. Night,

Thats cool though...I had seen other limited's, Eddie's with the V8 AWD and hadn't seen one before. I even looked at a 99 Mounty V8 AWD for $2500 was considerin because of the price before got the 96, and i didn't see that in it and I'm guessin it was the better version of the mounty because it had the message center computer an leather seats and the auto climate control like eddie/limited's, all that stuff.

The 99-01 trucks cannot have that switch because the whole ARC system changed, then it is only the rear shocks which have air.
