Over the years my windshield wiper arms have been stripped of most of their paint. What can I use to refinish them? Something that'll hold up.

Thanks Mike. I didn't think of motor paint.

Don't forget to prime it first. A couple of coats should do it.

Do I need 'primer' paint or will just a couple coats of the engine paint work?

Primer will make the outside paint stick better. Ofcourse, before priming, you should sand it with medium grit sand paper and then fine grit. Make sure it's all smooth or the uneveness will show after everything is painted. Also, everything must be dust-free before the primer goes on.

I don't primer mine because once you've sanded (roughened) the surface, the paint should stick adequately. Another reason why I don't primer mine is because by the same time next year, my wiper arms will be severely chipped so there's seriously no point putting so much time into it.

The places where I put more time onto is painting the B-pillars, the black trims on the side of the liftgate, and the roof rack and crossbars.

Hey 96ex, what kind of paint did you use on the b-pillar and lift gate? Did you have to take the door off or just mask around it? Mine are really faded and coming off on the liftgate.

Thanks,
van I.

Heh...I got creative and got some black metallic paint from Advance Auto. They cost about $4 a bottle. I masked the areas around the pillars then sanded, and sprayed it on. I sprayed 2 coats of black metallic paint and 3 coats of clears.
