any kind of metal can be painted pretty much just sand it with a light grid clean it real good get all the grease from it they sell prep stuff at pep boys then paint it

what kind of sandpaper is used for light sanding, a higher number or a lower number grit.

the higher the number the smoother the sandpaper you dont want a low number or it will scratch and you will see it when you paint.

priciate the help:)

I'd start with a scotch-brite pad or some steel wool and see if that helps remove any contaminants in the metal.. From there you can probably use just about any paint, just prep the metal accordingly..

alrighty, wool pad is on the list

I bet it's cast aluminum that has a bad case of oxidation. A lot of blowers use cast aluminum.
I forgot the name of the stuff I use to clean up oxidizied alum. Been a long time. But I think Auto zone or Advance sells it. It come in a small tin round can and has some wadding or cotton looking stuff in it that your rip off. It is treated with chemicals that will take that old stuff off. Then buff out. I'll see if I can find some in my shop and get back with you.

That "blower" is made out of cast aluminium. I would recomend a good cleaning agent to get the oxidation off. And please don't call your bug catcher a blower.
