What kind of sub(s)/amp do I need? I want awesome bass but I don't want to rock everybody else on the road..just me. I was thinking about 10-inch sub with a 200-watt amp or so.

I have 2 10" Precision Power subwoofers with a 1200 watt Rockford Fosgate amp which needless to say, definitely gets the whole car shakin'. I had Rockford Fosgate subs before they got jacked, and they were amazing. The Precision Power ones are still good, though. One 10" and a smaller amp would probably be fine if you want a bit more bass without shakin' the neighborhood.

Awesome. I was wondering what kind of amp I need also. I really want a 2 channel amp so I can power a sub and my speakers..but I don't think that will work. What do you think?

I believe the amp I have is a 2-channel, and I'm using the factory speakers since it has the JBL audio package from the factory. Unfortunately, I don't know much about wiring speakers through the amps. Hopefully this topic will be moved to the Explorer Audio forum because there are many more people there who have a much greater knowledge of this than I do.

That wont work. You would need a 4 channel amp to run subs and speakers.

Hmm I've seen a couple of amps that say you can bridge the channels and power a sub. But, then you woudn't be able to power the speakers. So I may just by a one channel amp. I just don't know!

Yep, Your best bet is to buy a Mono amp to run the subs and another amp to run door speakers...IMO.

Sweet. I was also thinkin about building a custom box. I want one that fits PERFECTLY in my car. Another thing to consider, I want a couple of tweeters too. Can I mount those on the sub box? Also how many channels would I need on my amp?

I would go with a DEI DIRECTED or a usa amps. i found those brands to work well. and for subs i would go with JL 10s they bump nice.

i have two 10" cerwin vega subwoofers in a box and a 300 watt jesen amp it really sounds good it gives you enough bass to wear you can hear and feel it and everyone else isnt shakin from it. I'm tryin to sell them for the subs and the amp i want 125if you want a cd player i have a jensen for $50 and a pioneer for $100
