I have a 92 4dr xlt and have been toying with the idea of lifting it. What kit do you recommend, and why? I want to go up about 6 inches and be able to put on 35" tires.

Sounds like an solid axle swap is the thing for you. I wouldn't recommend any thing larger than 33" tires on the TTB. Unless you enjoy replacing hubs and wheel bearings frequently.

Unfortunately an SAS is a very big job. It will take alot of planning and some amount of fabrication as it is not entirely "bolt-on" like an over the counter lift kit. But in the end, the result is completely worth it as you will have increased wheel travel and axle strength.

skyjacker class II 6" lift

If I stay with the TTB front end, I can run 33's with what height lift?

Many of us are running the Skyjacker class II lift with 33" tires on our 91-94 Explorers. I have just completed mine recently with little to no problems. The ride quality was not comprimised at all IMO. If you want to see a few of the projects go to the before and after section and just look around.
