Hey everyone,

I have past the 100k mark on my '99 Sport. The only work that has ever been done are reg. oil changes, air filter changes, and a new thermostat recently. I have a friend that runs the service dept. at the local auto store, so I was going to take it into him and have everything looked at so I can hopefully get some more miles out of the car. I was thinking:

Brakes
Transmission fluid change
Radiator flush
Tune-up w/ new spark plugs
Fuel Filter

Are these all necessary and what else would need to be done since I can get it done rather cheap.

Thanks

Start with that, might as well put new gear oil in the differentials. New ATF in transfer case. Make sure your wheel bearings and u-joints are all still good (might as well replace the u-joints since they probably need to be, or if they have zerk fittings grease 'em up). Check the tie rod ends. Ball joints, and if you are getting any annoying squeaks in the suspension it might be time for some new bushings.

One thing a lot of people over look is brake fluid. Get your whole system flushed. It isn't expensive and takes about a half to fourty-five minutes.

Ok, I will add those suggestions to the list. Anything else?

When I hit 100k I just flushed and refilled all of my fluids

Change your pulleys! My idler went out at about 110K and left me calling my wife at 12:30 AM for a ride home! :thumbdwn: It's pretty quick and easy too.

If you still have the original shocks, definitely change those. I noticed a dramatic difference with new shocks even though the originals had 64,000 miles on them. In my opinion, you get what you pay for with shocks. Spend more, and you will get a better shock. I have Gabriel MaxControl shocks on mine and I love them. I also used Monroe Reflex on my old 1993. They are each around $50 and you won't be disappointed with either of them.

You are probably close to needing tires too.
Also, if your truck is equipped with the under body tire carrier, let it down and give that cable a good coating of grease. And check the air in the spare while you're at it
And check your power steering hoses too.
If you are planning to keep the vehicle for a long time, you might consider one of those remote spin-on trans filter setups. :D
