I hope that everyone had a great holiday. It was a great holiday for my Explorer. I got some offroad lights and a bug guard. What did you get for your Explorer this year?

I spend the day installing my new toys. Here is how she looks now

Lookin good. I especially like the front plate.

Thanks

Thanks. The front plate was a gift also. I hope that we can do it this year. They sure spent enough on new talent. If they can only stay healthy!

One is cool...now to find more! ;)

I always liked the looke of a nice light bar setup  Do you keep the covers on all the time, or are they strictly for off-road? (it would be nice to be able to fire them up on deserted backroads). Did you drill through the roof, or did you run it through the door seal? Where did you wire the switch, and I assume you wired in a 12v relay correct?

Lightbar

I don't run them with the covers. I had just finished and had not taken them off yet. I drilled a hole in the roof and used a watertight grommet to run the wires through. I also applied a little clear silicone just to be on the safe site. The power source has a 30 amp fuse and a 30 amp relay. I tested the lights individually and they only pull 6 amps each for a total of 24 amps so the 30 should be more then enough. I mounted the switch on the center console where the console meets the dash. It works out well there.
I have fored them up a few times going down a few back roads and they make it look like daylight. I find that I have to make sure that the moonroof shade is in place becasue it lights up the inside of the truck also.

Glad to see you're doing the job correctly and not just hacking it... Some people (who shall remain nameless :p: ) run certain wires over their door seals :nono:. I have Hella's on a grill guard and leave my covers off so I can fire them up anytime (usually a few miles each day :) ). If I kept the covers on then I'd never use them. If I ever get a light bar I would keep the center lights straight and angle the outside lights to illuminate more to the sides.
