Hi,
What should my tire size be if I have 17 inch wheel. I do have a set of 98 Mustang 5 spoke GT wheels and I want to use it on my Explorer Sport.

Do you guys know what tire size should I get?

Thanks.

Some people with 17's are using 285-60-17, seems to work well.

a 285 would look pretty good, depending on if you have flares or not. I have 275/55 on my 96 XLT and the fronts stick out just a hair enough to sling crap all down the side of the car in the rain. Other than that, wider is def. better...

please understand- the 285/60/17's are WAY taller than stock. what do you want? taller? same height?

a 275/50/17 is the same height as the stock 235/75/15's. the 275/55 is just barely taller. it all depends on what you want.

Thanks James. Would it be any difference if the tire is taller? Would it cause my speedometer to be off a little bit??

i wouldn't go wider than 275 without doing a lot of research, especially if you are going to a larger diameter than stock

and yes, your speedo would read like 3-6 percent low depending on which tires you used.
