Well, you need to be more specific... Are you talking about door speakers, subs, componenets, 3 ways... What type of music do you listen too... Lots of variables... You need to give us more info first...
I was happy with the Pioneer 6x8's 3 ways that i had running off my Pioneer HU, but really the best you can do is take a CD of yours and go to a bunch of stores and see what sounds good to you, then if you want look for the speakers online or ebay if you want.
virtually every company makes speakers that sound pretty good for between 80 and 150 dollars a set. i think you'll find better deals on pioneer, audiobahn or cerwin vega, or maybe even sony than on infinity or alpine (neither of which i'd recommend because they just cost more than they should)
if you want to go higher $$ wise buy 5.25" components up front and mount them as if they were plate speakers or on your dash and 6 by 8s for the rear.
the biggest thing you can do to make it sound good though is to add some subs so that you don't muddy up your mids and highs by playing too much lows through the speakers. besides the fact that subs rule.
feel free to im me on aim if you want to discuss speakers on a more in depth basis. (svt exploder)
If you want to go to the higher end of pioneer, etc, the Boston Acoustics FX8 5x7's retail for 120 a pair and the better NX87 5x7's retail for 170. If you want I can work something out for you. I need to call up the sales rep today anyways...
Go cheap and good with the Pioneers (Wal Mart 55 bucks) or get some Infinity Kappa 5x7 for about 100-120 or go component with JBL or Infinity 5x7s I think even Kicker makes component 5x7's
Go try www.etronics.com ...if you already know what you are looking for they have a giant selection at soem pretty good prices. They have some really nice Pioneer and AudioBahn.
