I now have a 2004 Explorer Eddie Bauer (Yes the "ole 98 finally bit the dust after 366,000 miles) anyway and well, my recent upgrade is acting a bit strange. It seems that if I take off a little faster than normal or if I hit the brakes a little harder than normal or if I turn a corner a little faster than normal it beeps for a second or two. And I'm not talking about crazy driving or anything, just a little faster than normal. No dash lights come on or flash when it does it. Just beeps like when you put the key in to start it. Do these have roll over alarms or anything? It's the only thing I could come up with. Any help would be appreciated because it's starting to get a bit annoying....especially when I'm in a hurry and that's the worst time because I'm already annoyed.

Is the window in the rear hatch closed properly? I had once accidently pressed the button on the key fob and it drove me crazy for days.

Could have an issue with the Yaw Rate sensor. Haven't heard it duscussed before, so don't know what it does when going out.

Yes I am wearing my seat belt and I've checked the hatch window and it's not that. Rate Sensor...Hmm? I will have to look into that I guess.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated.. Thanks to those who already have!

Is there a switch for the hood? If there was, would a intermittent connection cause the beeping?

Does your Explorer have RSC (Rollover Stabitly Control)? Look on your tailgate for letters. If yes, you're going too fast on the curves/turns. I have same with Lincoln LS when cornering too fast. The lite on dash blinks for a split second and beeps momentarily. For me it wasn't a concern. I just figured it was telling me it's doing its job to ensure I don't roll the car. Also there should be a switch on console to turn off tne RSC and a light on the switch will illuminate to indicate it's off. Now go for a drive on same area and replicate conditions when you got the beep previously. No, beep suggests your original beeps was an indication of RSC functioning at that moment to assist vehicle in not rolling over. RSC defaults to On when vehicle is started unless you override by turning off the switch.

Though the vehicle is an Eaddie Bauer and fullt loaded, there is no RSC nor is there a button to turn it off/on. And if it only sounded during extreme turns or braking or accelerations, I could understand it. But it goes off just barely pushing the accelerator more than a normal take off or if turn just a little quick or brake just a little hard. Nothing that should set off an alarm by any means. And the manual has no mention of such an alarm like it. i'm really scratching my head on it. :-/ It's very annoying.

I had similar electrical issues with my '02 XLT. The dome lights would stay on until the battery saver feature turned them off, the accessory delay wasn't working, the driver side puddle light didn't work, the keypad on the door would set off the alarm when I pressed it, the door ajar light would flash and beep at highway speeds, the radio would shut off as soon as I turned the key off, the alarm would beep twice when I armed it. Recently all 4 windows stopped working. Most recently the driver door lock actuator stopped working.

A lot of electrical issues can be traced back to broken/damaged wire(s) in the boot between the body and the driver's door. I found 3 broken wires and repaired them. The thin black ground wire was broken and after repairing it all was back to normal. When the windows stopped working, I repaired the thick black ground wire and the windows now work like a champ. I had to repair the pink/black wire to fix the driver door lock actuator.

Here is the thread for removing the door panel: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=303524

Here is a great thread for checking for broken/damaged wires, thanks to synyster for this awesome write-up: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=270081

Unfortunately the pictures are no longer available in the above thread. IIRC, I believe I unwrapped the wires enough to gain access. When I have gone searching in there I had an idea of what wire I was looking for. I located the the wire I was looking for and gently tugged on that wire on the door side. The wire was pulled toward me and out of the harness. I then went inside the vehicle and gently tugged on the the wire I was looking for and was able to pull it inside the vehicle. I then spliced a length of wire to the 2 ends, completing the circuit. I then gently pulled the excess into the door.

Be sure to take your time when looking for broken/damaged wire(s). Check all the wires for breaks/damage. When you think you're done looking, look again, and again, and again. A bright flashlight can be very helpful.

Good luck getting it sorted.
