Yea if i were you i would double layer that hatch door with some dynamat. Than secure the sucker down well by mabe putting some screws at the corners of the cargo panel. It may not look pretty but the screws will definatly keep if from rattling tons. The rattles starting come since stuff isnt secured well.

Instead of using Dynamat...which is about 7 to 8 times as expensive as you should spend....go with RAAMmat.Dead Link Removed

Think of it this way...dynamat is about 8 or 9 dollars per square foot. RAAMmat is a little over 1 dollar per square foot. As far as the rattling on your back hatch...put some on the plastic part of your hatch as well. I would say put 1 layer on the metal frame of your hatch and 1 layer on the plastic part...otherwise it will probably start to become harder to put the panel back on.

I put 4 layers of Duct wrapping on my panel and the panel doesn't rattle at all. Duct wrapping isn't a good sound deadener as you can still tell from the outside that it has rattles...but I HAD to have something to quiet down the inside.

duct tape? can i see a pic of this please.

Its not duct tape...its a foam duct wrapping. It comes in a 12 inch wide sheet. Its sticky foam with an aluminum backing and is used to insulate and stop vibrations in air ducts. I don't have a pic sorry. It was 15 bucks at Home Depot.

Interesting, so this stuff should stop my problem then?

Don

Well...kinda. It will solve the rattles inside....but will not stop the annoying rattling on the outside, it just isn't dense enough....afterall its only foam. I personally would suggest the RAAMmat60. But if you do want to use it...use 3 to 4 layers of it on the inside of your panel and BE CAREFUL not to break off the little clicks that help hold the panel on. I broke a couple of these and the panel does not sit as tight as it normally does, but stays on nontheless.

So there is not way to stop the rattle noise from the outside??

If so, that really sucks! It is louder on the outside then the inside.

Yes, there is a way to stop rattling on the outside. You can do this with the RAAMmat. RAAMmat and dynamat are the same thing...but they are made out of tar and asphalt, which is why they are better sound deadeners than the duct wrapping. You put 2 layers of RAAMmat on and your rattles should be gone, inside and out. In the long run RAAMmat is cheaper because you have to use less layers. IMO RAAMmat is your best bet.

Oh i see, so this stuff goes in between the door panel and door?

Hey take a look at what i did DonM I just completed cover the rear cargo door. I have a pic in my sigs link. I think you will get the idea of it than.

my whole rear hatch panel used to rattle with my bass

so i got some scrap peices of house carpet, cut them in small peices and inserted them between the hatch panel and the metal on the door around the edges, you can see it when the hatch is open ONLY IF YOU KNOW TO LOOK FOR IT, other wise it stoped my rattling and cost me nothing

on another note the rear hatch handle on the outside rattles like theres no tomorrow so does the windshiled wiper

haven't gotten around to fixing that yet
i'm workign 56 hour weeks at work and taking a trig class

You don't HAVE to go with stereo dampning stuff either... the entire inside of my honda was sprayed with a thick layer of truck bed liner..... then the carpet and panels wer placed back.. never knew it was there.. but no rattle what so ever... car-undercoating works too....
