lol, dude I'm sorry. Anyway, I checked out napplesbill's system, it doesn't look like that box takes up too much of the cargo area. I think it also said he hit like 140 some odd db. hmmmmm....something to think about.

yeah man im pretty much getting the same system, same sub same amp same box demintions (i heard bill's in person and OOOOOHHH MYYY GOD!!!!) it is amazing

HOLY COW...you can get that amp for like $365.00. Where did you get the box from? Are you running a cap? hmmm....I'm getting pretty interested in this.

the box like Bill's is getting made by an authorized jl audio dealer and it has the correct dementions for the w7 and all, cap nope... really i dont need one it will only be running like 650 watts max so really no need for a cap

Shoot...i can't find that box on ebay...lol. How much is it from the dealer? Are you installing this on your own or having it installed?

150-200 the box and im having it installed i have no idea about that stuff

maybe he likes kicker.......its all him, if thats what he wants...

i'm partial to audiobahn :)

Yeah, the thing is KICKER is all I have ever had. So I don't really know any different. My first system I ever had was two used kicker comps and a cheap used amp. It wasn't much but it was cheap and sounded good. I have JL 6x9's in my cougar and I know JL makes quality stuff. I might go with the 12W7, like roadenforcer said. It sounds like a good and simple set up, at a decent price.

This will tell you how much I know, but I've never heard of audiobahn. LOL...as far as I knew, kicker was the best you could get. Doesn't seem like too many people here care for them at all??? So if ya want, tell me more about audiobahn...I'm taking my time on this and trying to figure out what will be my best ummm....BUMP for the buck.

well how much do you want to spend?
that will give us an idea.

but if you like the kickers, go with them:)

I think I could spend from $1200 - $1500, with $1500 being really high. I had it figured that I could get the JL 12W7, the JL 500/1 amp, the box and wiring all for about $1300. That included shipping. Then Whatever it will cost for install. I will probably run the wires myself. I'm considering buying a newer explorer so I will probably wait until I get one(hopefully within the next couple months). I don't want to put it all in my ex and have to "rip" it back out again.

Eventually, if I go with JL, I will probably get some JL 5x7's for the doors and the q-form kickpanels and a 5.5 or 6.5 JL component and a JL amp to run those six or 4 of the six speakers.

My deck is a 1999 Kenwood Excelon so I might replace that too. Since it will all be in a newer explorer, maybe I will get a deck and an in dash changer and do the "double-din thing". What brand of deck...who knows?? That is all a while down the road though, for now I'm worried about the bass.

Thanks!

well since you asked about Audiobahn, i'll give you some prices on Audiobahn setups.

AWT12X: 2000 watts RMS
Dead Link Removed
A2200HCQ: 1600 watts RMS @ 1 ohm @ 12.5 volts
Dead Link Removed

you could this setup for less then $900.
you wont believe how hard this 12" sub will hit. and it sounds great too. you have to hear it to believe it.

here's the specs for the sub:
Dead Link Removed

OR...

AW1805Q 18" subwoofer 1200 watts RMS
Dead Link Removed
A1500HCQ 1000 watts rms @ 2 ohms 2000 watts rms @1 ohm
Dead Link Removed

this 18" will sound amazing. i had the 1205 which is the 12" version and i got compliments everywhere. nobody could believe it was only one 12" subwoofer. and you could hook two of them up at 1 ohm mono to this amp if you can stand all that SPL;)
here's the specs for this sub
Dead Link Removed
this setup would cost less then $925.

audiobahn has a lot more choices then these, but i was just giving you a couple examples close to what you wanted to spend. there are less expensive setups that will pound louder then most peoples systems and sound better.

hmmm....very interesting. Another dumb question though...what is SPL? LOL. That is a lot less expensive than JL or Kicker. Would the first setup be as loud as the W7? Thanks again!

SPL= Sound Pressure Level. Bass competitions are measured in dBSPL. (dB is decbels)

the AWT12 will be louder then a 12W7. i handles a lot more power.
or you could step up to a AWT15 which handles 3000 watts rms. or the AWT18 that handles 4000 watts rms. then there's the AWT34 and it handles 5000 watts rms:eek:
but the AWT12 is going to be more then enough for you (and your neighborhood ;) )

COOL! LOL! 34"...MAN, that's just insane.

I didn't look too hard yet, but I wasn't able to find the box size recomendations for the awt12. I'll look some more. Thanks for the recommendations! If you have anymore I would be glad to hear them...this should keep me busy for a while though. ;)

the Memphis LVS is a great sub, but that setup will be out of your range.

leenjen,
Where did you find the prices for those amp/sub combos? I found them a couple places, but It was quite a bit more expensive. THANKS!
