Hey guys,

Well I have a 91 4x4 XLT 4 Door, I do some mild off roading and would like to get into a little more in the future.

I am running basicaly a stock setup now.

I was thinking of just putting in some good high quality shocks and maybe 31" BFG's and saving the money by not putting the lift on it, I will gain a little from the tires and the better suspension should help out too.

Would this setup be pretty good? Can anyone reccomend some good off-road shocks that can still give nice onroad handling? Something not TOOO terribly expensive but better than the el cheapo ones I have in now :)

Also I have factory skid plates on now, are they any good?

Thanks for any suggestions you have.
Matt

factory skid plates should be plenty. As far as lift goes on these I can tell you that for under about $200.00 - $400.00 you can lift this baby at least 4-6 inches. It all depends on what you need.
Here are some choices:
1. body lift - either 2" or 3" lift - about $60.00 - $80.00
2. rear shackles - 1.5" - 2" lift - about $80.00
3. front and rear Skyjacker suspension lift - 2" - 2.5" lift - $150.00
4. front coil spacers - 1.5" - 2" lift - $40.00

with that you'll need alignment bushings - $50.00 and a set of new shocks - extended shocks - Skyjacker, Rancho, Explorer Pro Comp looking to spend around $120.00 - $160.00 per set......

voila!!! you're done!

This might help ya... you ca shocks from www.shockwarehouse.com
Their prices are pretty good. I have Pirelli Scorpions 31'S, with Monroe Reflex shocks... i love them, they are great.

Where can i find that lift and do you know if I can get that for a 91 Sport ?

I would not reccomend the Skyjacker and coil spacers. You would have some serious \ / going on with your wheels. If you are looking to go cheap, then get a 2" bodylift with 31's. It would look good and hande nicely. For shocks, hmmm, gotta go with the Bilsteins.

Wouldn't an alignment help the \ / thats goin on?

An alignment will help but they will not be able to get it back to stock specs.
