I have a nice 1991 EB 4WD that I want to keep but which needed a few parts. I recently bought a 1993 EB 4WD because I needed the transmission and I liked the wheels and hwy. tires. The 1993 has a loud rod knock.

Things I'm planning on pulling off the 1993 to keep but don't (yet) need:

cylinder heads (both)
alternator
elect. seats and wire harness
entire rear end (LSD; destined for the 1991 when I get time)
rear door support lifts (both)
transfer case (already off)
starter (already off)

Besides the above parts that I want or need, what should I keep just in case?

drive shafts? (already off)
any of the air conditioning system?
the inner door handles?
calipers?
rotors?
rear drums?
radiator?

Anything else fail very often?

I will eventually be parting out the 1993 and some items from the 1991 (perfect non-elect. seats, center console (one cup style), and both front and rear bumpers) but not for about two months; in other words, if you ask about a part for sale now this is way too early and I will forget long before I start selling parts.

glass, doors, all suspension, steering, computer & wiring harness, fenders, grill, body, dash, hahahaha we typically stip them down to just a shell (frame and cab) and put all the parts in boxes and storage. My friend Brett has filled an entire crawlspace with gen I parts and more, if you plan to keep a Gen I for a long time then there is nothing you should not grab except parts that are damaged or worn :)

If it's R-134a, I'd keep the compressor/clutch at least. I believe 1993 was the cut-off year: some 93 trucks still had R-12, some had R-134a. I have nothing against R-12, it's just that it's a pain to service them now.

If it's all in decent shape, keep it all if you have the space. Water pump. Add that to your list. Keep the air intake tube too, those tend to crack out over time, especially if you are always pulling it off and putting it back on. I know you can buy some of these parts (like calipers, etc.) but it's still nice to have them laying around.

Salvage yard is paying you for the metal, you might as well keep what ya can.

Oh, that reminds me, get the center console bracket piece. You know, the one that breaks all the time.

I'm planning on stripping one of mine this summer and cutting the leftover body and frame into little pieces and selling it for scrap, I've got the space and tools, and the body is too far gone so why not.
