I was wondering, whats the back spacing on cobras, and is it the same as the bullit wheels and all the other factory mustang wheels??

backspacing on cobra r's is +24mm. most mustang wheels are around there.

EE is using a replia wheel made by a company called verde and you don't need wheel spacers. Just go to their web site and by the way they are alot cheaper!

the backspacing is the same on the replicas. you wont need spacers, depending on what size tires you put on them.

the reason I ask, is cause, well I dont want to get cobras, everyone has them, I either wanna get the replica saleen wheels, or bullit, wheels, and another reason is, I wanna judge this next to like other aftermarket wheels, so whats ++24mm, is that like 3 inches..or what??

24mm is the offset, not the backspacing.

also, 24mm=0.95 inches

i cant remember what the backspacing on Cobra R's is, but it will be more than Bullits, Saleen's, etc. due to the width of the wheel.

yeah, youre right, i had a brain fart when i read it. when it comes to street wheels, though, all the fitment issues and measurements are done in millimeters (offset), and generally, offroad setups are taken care of in inches (backspacing.)

ahh.... found it. here ya go...

Ford Wheel Backspacing #'s

17x9 1995 Cobra R's- 5.98"

17x8 Bullit's - 5.72"

17x8 1998 Cobra's (not R)- 5.72"

so, if I got a set of 17X9 or 18X9, bullit wheels I shouldnt have problem running into suspension componets, I know that it might rub on the lower control arm, but its gunna be lowered so it should be ok, correct, if I run the 255/55 I shouldnt rub anything right??

thats correct :) (at least for the 17" rim. the 18" rim with 255/55's might be a pretty close call.)

actually, the 17's will rub (on the lower control arm), and the 18's probably will not rub. the inside of the wheel on the 17's rub on the control arm "lip". with an inch more diameter, it may not rub at all.

the 17's will rub with 255's? are you sure? i thought, for the most part, people only report rubbing with 275's? i think the 255's should be fine.

and with 18's, youre running the risk of rubbing on something else under there. maybe the extra diameter will give more clearance for the control arm, but youre also eliminating wheel gap, which gives less clearance for other components under there (though, some issues can be taken care of with a dremel.)

:smoke: You smokin something? :smoke:

EE wants $174.95 each for the silver painted replicas. I got my Cobra R's for $139.95 each and theyre real.

james t, whats the back spacing on your wheels, and what size tires are you running, and you mean you only will have rubbing at full turn lock right??,

I can turn the wheel about 95% till I get rub.

98ford...what size tires are you running, and do you hit rim or tire?

255/60's... rim on the lower a-arm, tire on the sway bar. :(

i have the plain 'ole 17x9 R's, which have 5.98" backspacing. i have 255/50's on the front, the tire does not rub, its the wheel. if i had the taller 255/60 "offroad" tire that chris has, it would proly rub.

tbomb, you make sense, but you're not seeing my point. it is the lip of the wheel that rubs, not the tire. if i had 245/45's on the front, or 275/60's, it wouldnt matter, as the inner lip of the wheel contacts the lower control arm at full turn. 18x9's with the same backspacing would solve this issue, as the extra inner diameter of the wheel would not come into contact were the 17's do. also, a 17x8 would not have this issue either. ask chris, his wheels rub in the same spot as mine.

Thats correct James.

oh, ok, i misread what you were saying then  though, a lot of people report no rubbing issues at all; it must just be a matter of manufacuring tolerances.
