What's the best limited slip unit?

If it is only kicking in when there are slippery surfaces, then don't you think it might be ok?

It wouldn't be engauging when I'm on a road with good traction. Correct me if I'm wrong, but since this is a locker then it only works when there is torque sent to the wheels right? Otherwise it's an open diff. So technically you can use it with great care on the road can't you? Especially since it's not even given power all the time through the use of 4x4 Auto. I've heard talk of people using lockers on their DD in the rear. I'm not trying to shoot your comments down at all, I just want to make sure I understand this right.

unless i'm way off here.. i mean u could use great care but that won't always work. jus say u pulled out of a parking lot with gravel that yer back wheels slipped in and yer front kicks in and that locker kicks in on hard concrete with yer wheels turned it greatly increases yer chances of breaking something i would guess  i know if i still had that auto 4wd case i wouldn't want my front end locking up on the road while i'm trying to drive. i'd be worried about it. someone will jump in and either confirm or deny what i'm saying... thats jus the impression i was under. guess we'll find out how much truth there is to what i'm saying

you DO NOT want to lock the front of an Auto 4wd DD...It WILL lock up on you in parking lots/gas stations/pulling into traffic/etc. and you dont want that. A locker in the rear will be fine on the street as the tires dont turn as extreme as the fronts. Now...if you can get your hands on one of the hard to find Powertrax no-slip units then you will be fine (After all it is the only locker that will work in the front end of the explorer right now, so your idea isnt going far anyway...)

I thought the no-slip was a locker like the Aussie will be when its finally released?
