Whats the vent in the hatch panel?

I noticed mines busted and I wanna stick a light there to fill it but idw to screw anythinfg up. This is the one on the hatch itself :).

Well if almost 70 people have looked at this and not said anything then it must not be a major part so im sticking a light in it.

Go For It , I've installed Speakers,Lights In The Rear Hatch of my Buddy's old Explorher , The nickname for his Rig !
 






Ford put them in because they had problems with air displacement. If more than one door was being shut the air pressure unless slammed would keep at least one door from shutting all the way so they added the vents with a baffle behind them in them so the air has a place to go.
