umm, you have a 93. Measure it! :p ;)

to do that I would have to jack it up and take the tires off. sounds like to much work for me  :D Guess ill find out when I start SAS seeing as that will be the next time I take the truck apart.

I think it's 58" if I remember correctly

Dave are you usiag spacers on your axle? Or did curry make yours wider some how?

I know I will need a spacer when I do the sas for mine

Stic-o, I did mine the hard way, I had Currie widen the axle and put in 31 spline carrier (now a Detroit) and axles as well as weld on 9" ends (no more C-clips) instead of just buying an Explorer axle...lol. The only reason you need spacer/adapters is to get the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern but it will space your wheels out whether you like it or not unless you get new shafts with 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern.

Yeah but I thought the EB 44 was a little wider then the EX's 8.8  Or is that the Rubi 44 I'm think'n of?

Not exactly sure Stic-o, i thought they were damn near close...as far as TJ/Rubi axles go, I have no idea what the width is on those.

I only say that cause I know Jefe had to use spacers on the rear of his to match the track of his Rubi axle. Well that and bolt pattern

TJ width is about 60", 2" wider than the explorer.

...and EB?

Next time I have the wheels off the D44 i'll measure the wms to wms, if you can wait that long or unless someone else chimes in. I'll have them off in the next couple of weeks so I can swap tires/wheels.

So how much wider is the Ex 8.8 compared to the Ranger 8.8, is it 1" wider?

I belive Bill or Mark mite know the answer to the 8.8 question...if one of them chimes in, but I belive it's 1" to 11/2"

Hi all, just want to set the record straight on the width of the 93 Explorer 8.8" rear axle. I have one sitting in my garage that's going into a race car. I have done pretty accurate measurements, so I had to pass this along. The width (from wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface, with drums installed) is 59 3/8". Hope this helps.
