2001 Explorer XLT
I have a 2001 Ford Explorer XLT. For some reason it's producing no heat from the front, the back ones work fine but the front one's do nothing. If I leave my car running for a couple of hours it SOMETIMES starts to work....

anyone know what's wrong or what I need to check, etc?

Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the rear is just ductwork from the main plenum back to the rear. I don't think it has it's own heater core in the 01. If this is right then you need to check your blend door operation. This blocks or opens airflow through the heatercore. So get down there and pull the trim panels off. Start activating the temp control looking for the actuator that moves. If nothing moves then change the mode (panel, floor, Def) whichever one doesn't move is you blend door and responsible for temp control.

ah oh. search "blend door" on this site. and whoever the fatherless child is that designed this thing should be publicly flogged. Well ok, at least he should say, gee im sorry!

thanks for your help gus gorilla I'm going to check it tomorrow and hopefully save myself the 1250 they are telling me it would cost in order for ford to do it (how ridiculous when the parts are only bout 100 bucks!),and you are correct hevyg. Seems like this is an issue with lots of people.
