My 97 5.0L AWD Mounty (190k on the clock) hesitates/studders during acceleration, has trouble starting, and according to my wife is sucking gas faster than before, although she hasnt calculated the mileage.

It is not reading an engine fault code, although there was one recently that was triggered by a poorly installed gas cap that turned off by itself after a few days.

The plugs & wires were replaced about a year ago and the air filter was replaced about 6k miles ago. I do not smell any gas in or around the truck.

Whats wrong with her (the truck, not the wife ;))?

What kind of plugs/wires are you running?

My wife just called to tell me the check engine light is on so I guess I will run it over to autozone to read the fault code.

Don't buy anything until you post the codes...

Code: P0302

Cylinder #2 is misfiring. Autozone says the most likely culprit is the plug or wire which seems odd to me since they are about a year old. It says it could also be a vacuum leak, injector fault, or high/low fuel pressure.

I dont know what plugs & wires - I had a mechanic install them.
