What's your gas Mileage?

I have a 2002 V8 Limited & get 12-14 (as read on the indication). Never took a trip yet as I have only had it a week. When i fill up I'll calculate it as stated in the post above. That's how I'm used to finding my MPG.

2003 v-8 nbx, 14-16 city, 18-21 highway(depending on driving style). 12-15mpg when towing..............awd is a thirsty sob!!!! :D

???

Not sure what I am doing but I get about 16 in the city (no trips yet, so not sure what my highway mileage is). I have the tires filled as posted on the driverside door and gas door (30 & 35). I don't drive it fast but am not a granny driver either. I don't load it down and have not needed the ac yet. So, is there some reason you guys are getting less mpg than me?

you just said all the reasons in your post

update on my crappy gas mileage: i changed gas stations (just a different owned BP) and my gas mileage is p to 14 from 12. id say thats a HUGE improovement.

I have an '00 V6 OHV. I get from 16-18 in the city and up to 21 when doing highway driving. I drive the speed limit usually, never more than 5 mph over.

My 70 year old dad has a '99 V6 OHV, like mine in almost every respect, and has gotten 23 mpg on the highway. He averages 16 in the city.

Both are 4 - door XLS versions of the Explorer.

16 around town, and about 21 hwy doing 70 mph.

Ok well mine has significantly changed one big FUBAR
96 OHV 4x4 4dr.
Stock
10-11 city
18-20 highway.....WTF

check your owners man. there should be a proceedure involving the key and the seat belt where you cycle it and buckle and un buckle. or some thing like that. other wise the dealor might be able to do it with thier scanner

I have a 2003 Limited with 4.6 engine.

Mainly (or mostly) around town driving.. the mileage always seems to settle in around 13.7 mpg on the dash.

(Even if I reset it while going down a LONG hill coasting to cheat and boost it initially)

16-17, 20-21

I have an '02 XLT, 4.0, 4WD with 95k miles.
In the city I am getting 16-18, on trips 21 to 22 I am in the mountains, running interstate around 70 MPH. I try to keep revs at 2000. I also use the cruise a lot, not just for milage but for comfort. My trips are 4 to 8 hours at a time, two to three a month. I don't take off like a rabbit, and am past the need to hear it growl.
I am getting ready to flush my tranny and put the Amsoil synthetic in (already changed the front and rear diff), and my next purchase will be a flash from Bama for mpg (probably going to get the programmer with 3 tunes).
I also have a K&N power air filter. My goal is 23-24 consistently on trips.

How much should the Tow Package decrease MPG?

I just sold my 1995 Sport, and bought an '03 XLT 4WD, with the trailer tow package, which changes the rear end from a 3.55 to a 3.73. I just came back from my first trip, and I only got 17 MPG on the 1st tank and 16.5 MPG on the 2nd. This was almost all highway driving with the cruise set at 74 most of the time. By the way, that 74 is per my GPS, the speedo read 70.

Does that MPG figure seem low? I know the EPA ratings (haha) are 15 city and 21 hwy, but how much of a drop should I expect from the 3.73 rear?

Thanks,
- Hal

I've got a 2002 Eddie Bauer V8 4x4 and get around 16 on average mixed driving per the dash computer. I've gotten up to 19mpg on long trips.

Stock mine would get 19-21 depending on how much highway. Now with the 30# injectors and all the mods anywhere from 16-17mpg,this is the sohc v-6.

have had mine for about 2 months now, it gets 14-15mpg around town for my wife back and forth to work and we just got 22.8mpg (calculated) on a 250mile round trip with the cruise set @ 60mph the whole way on mostly flat ground with a few small hills. Ours is a 2002 AWD 4.6L with 3.73 posi gears. It just turned 56k on the odo.

I have an '03 V6 w/ 37K. I average 17-18 MPG with mixed highway and city driving. I use the gas receipt (gallons purchased) and the miles showing on the trip odometer at time of fill-up to calculate the mileage. It's an accurate way to calculate mpg, especially when you do it over a long period of time (i.e. numerous fill-ups).

I tend to get about 16 with 50/50 city and highway driving. I can't wait to see what it gets this time. I calculate milage using the odo/gal =mpg....but I also see what the gadge is reading vs what the odo is reading since last fill up. And it appers to be much higher then the norm. For this tank I have changed my driving habbits a lot because I want to see the difference.

My 02 Sport get 20-21 MPG, 03 EB gets ~17 mixed driving, 21 highway. Both vehicles use Mobil 1 Oil and Conocophillips 87 Gas. Also both vehicles have the 4.0 SOHC.

I have an 03 and an 05. The 03 gets 20-21mpg running Mibile 1 and a K&N panel filter. The 05 is running a blend oil right now willbe switching to Mobile 1 next change and putting a K&N in then as well. The 05 gets 17-18mpg. Those are my specs.
