so on my 2006 i have the 18" factory chrome wheels... well they are pretty trashed from the previous owner and i want to replace but all i can find is the whole wheel assembly, i asked a ford tech here and they stated that the wheel cover is bonded to the wheel so i can't just replace the cover... i this true?? and if not where can i get replacement wheels cheap?

i really don't want to have to tell the insurance i put it in a curb and have them fix it ($50 deductible) cuz its fraud....

The cover is bonded to the wheel, therefore not replaceable. Try to find S-197 Mustang wheels. (2005 & up) They have the correct offset.
If you find some 17's for a good price, it will give you are larger/broader range of tires.
