Hello everyone!
I've got a 2016 Explorer XLT 3.5l with 4WD. I seem to be having a grinding sound coming from the front end. Yes I know that this usually means a wheel hub but this seems to be acting differently. Turning left and right does not make this better or worse. It's an all the time type of "grinding" sound. When you hit 50 mph is when it is at its loudest. You don't really hear it unless you're paying attention to it until you hit about 35 mph. It sounds marginally better when you accelerate, but I mean very little. All the wheel hubs I've ever worked on have had the grinding noise get worse when turning left or right, or had begun to seize. If this is a wheel hub its just acting very different from what I've dealt with. Looking for input as we have barely owned the vehicle a month, so not sure how the vehicle normally "sounds" but this sounds out of the normal to me.
I apologize if this is a repeat, but the threads that I found all mentioned the turning making it better or worse, so wanted to ask about this one.
