I think the other day one of the members (won't say a name) on the forum had a wheel come flying off their Explorer on the freeway, he's safe and all except for someone stealing his rim/tire. But I can't quite remember if it was because of coil spring lift spacers, or wheel spacers.... Sorry  :dunno:

On an off-topic note, How do you like that eonon double din? Care to write a review of it? I'd appreciate it, been thinking about getting one for a while now...

yep that was the lift spacers, im glad dirtdigger was ok, some scary s*** that went down. i reckon i might've had to change me undies

Yeah it was my truck that had problems..Im ok and made it home safe. It was a spacer lift that caused me problems not a wheel spacer. I am running wheel spacers but the ones i have on are only 1/4 just to move the tire away from the upper control arm cause im running bigger rubber. I actually bought 1.5 inch spacers from 4wheel parts to just widen the stance in the front but have not installed them. You should be fine with wheel spacers just make sure you torque everything down right. My buddy has had 1.5's on his F150 for a year with no probs just dont jump your ex or expect some damage.

On a side note the lift sapcers are a great product and make your truck look bad*** just get upper control arms made.

To roll 265's you don't need wheel spacers at all on a 3rd Gen. They will go on stock with no problems. I've run both Dick Cepek Mud Country's and BFG A/T's in a 265/75R16 on stock suspension with no wheel spacers.

if you want to widen the foot print of your X. look into a different offset rim...

im looking into cragar soft 8's cause there cheap, and look good.

on my 245s i can just fit the 2nd knuckle of my giving someone the finger finger,i think thats the technical term, between tyre and control arm. i thought cause i run 17s,265s might get a bit too close for comfort. plus 265s will take me 1" up so id try to compensate by going 2 and a bit (another technical term)" out. i do alot of highway miles on a twisty back highway and my old girl wallows a wee bit as she is now. my front track is 9mm thinner than my rear im thinking maybe 1.25" front 1" rear ? will spacer give slightly better handling or make it worse? i cant afford 5 rims and 5 tyres just yet caldwell i had to choose one ortother, bugger. im glad theres no probs fitting 265 stock cheers sean. safety aspect was my main concern thanks dirtdigger

Like caldwell said go with the soft 8's they look sick and they are under $300

cragars are a tad more expensive over here but i could go a steel wheel sunraysia they are about the price you can get the cragar for and 5 of those is only 200 more than spacers plus i dont have the lip on my stock rim that grabs every stick in the bush and tries to break my tyres bead. jeez fellas im glad im on this forum, decisions..decisions at least it can all be done piece by piece
